Mrs McIntosh

As Headteacher, I am very proud of our school. It is a privilege to be part of such a fantastic community. The staff at this school work extremely hard to provide the children with fantastic learning opportunities which will help them reach their potential. All the staff at Brierley make a difference.

Mrs Wootton – Bursar

Hi, I’m Mrs Wootton, the school bursar. I am loving being part of the Brierley family since joining in January 2021.

When not working, I love spending time with my Husband, two teenage Daughters and our family dog ‘Bruce’

I like to keep myself busy so spend my spare time assisting at local dog training and behavioural classes. Dogs have always been a big part of my life growing up and I have even shown at ‘Crufts’

Myself and my girls also horse ride and I do photography and enjoy all forms of motorsport

 

Miss Baker – Clerical Officer

Hi, I’m Miss Baker, Clerical Officer here at Brierley. I’m from Crewe and Brierley was my primary school when I was younger. A lot has changed since I came here, we didn’t even have toilets inside the building.
I have two children who keep me busy and at home we have two rabbits. My favourite part of my job is when it is leading up to Christmas and we have lots of things going on for the children, such as visiting the panto, Christmas plays and Christmas parties, the children get so excited which is lovely to see.

Miss Nash

Hello, I’m Miss Nash and I am a teacher in the EYFS team teaching Nursery. I completed my teacher training at Liverpool Hope University. I have previously worked in a nursery setting alongside my teacher training. Outside of school I love baking lots of different desserts. I also love going for walks and spending time with my dog. I love teaching all subjects and I’m looking forward to teaching at Brierley this year!

Miss Heaton

Hi, I’m Miss Heaton and I am very excited to be teaching Reception in Early Years. I completed my teacher training at Keele University and specialised in Early Years. I love to make learning creative, fun and engaging. Travelling and visiting new places are my favourite things to do. I have been to Costa Rica and saw some amazing animals and plants! I love being in the outdoors and listening to music.

Miss Kershaw – Maternity Leave

Hi there. My name is Miss Kershaw and I am a teacher in the fabulous EYFS/ Year 1 team. I completed my teacher training in Manchester before moving here to work at Brierley Primary School in 2014.
In school, I have run after school clubs such as ‘Computing Club’, ‘Cookery Club’ and ‘Netball Club’ for children in both KS1 and KS2. I am the proud mother of my beautiful 1 year old daughter and also my pet dog.

Mrs Taylor

Hello! My name is Mrs Taylor and I am a teaching assistant in EYFS. I have worked at Brierley for nearly 3 years and I have spent my time working (and playing) with the wonderful children in Reception and Little Bears. I really enjoy being part of our children’s first steps into education and helping them to engage in their learning and explore the world around them. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and my dog Mollie, baking with my daughter and going on our many adventures to the coastlines of North Wales.

Miss Shayne –

Hello, I am Miss Shayne and I have been at Brierley Primary School for 3 years. In my spare time, I enjoy dancing in lots of competitions and showcases. I’m not afraid to get messy and love all sorts of arts and crafts, especially baking. I also love spending lots of time going on walks with my two pomsky puppies

My name is Miss Potter, but many of the children know me as Jenna! I’m quite a familiar face around the school as all my older children have attended Brierley and my 3 youngest children come here.

I am very excited to be working as part of the EYFS team. As well as being a fun, friendly face around the classroom, a part of my job is to make sure all the children are safe, happy and having lots of fun during their learning activities.

Outside of school, I really enjoy spending time with my family and going for days out together. We also have a lovely little dog called Ted, who sometimes can be very grumpy!

Miss McGinley

My name is Miss McGinley and I am working in EYFS and currently studying my NVQ, In my spare time I like walking my dog Dudley and spending time with my family. I like watching films my favourite films are Harry Potter, I also enjoy socialising with my friends. I enjoy working with children and already feel at right at home here Brierley.

Miss Smith

My name is Miss Smith and I am a TA here at Brierley. I have been working at Brierley for over 11 years. My children also attended Brierley so I feel it’s always been part of a family to me. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family going for meals out and watching films.

Mrs Redfern – Currently on Maternity leave

Hello my name is Mrs Redfern and I have been part of the Brierley team since September 2016. I began as an apprentice where I completed my qualification and became a fully qualified teaching assistant. I have had previous experience working in a nursery and a school and I mainly work within the EYFS team.

I am a proud mummy to my crazy 2 year old girl who keeps me on my toes at home. I love going for walks and being creative.

Mrs Piggott

Hi, My name is Mrs Piggott, I have Worked in childcare since I qualified.

I have a Foundation degree supporting teaching and learning

Focused on early years, nurseries and love what I do!

I have recently had a baby called Isaac who’s now one year old.

Miss Beckley

Hello, my name is Miss Beckley. I work in the EYFS here at Brierley. In my spare time I enjoy baking and decorating cakes, I love spending time with my family and my puppy. I am excited to be part of the EYFS team.

Year 1 – Ahlberg Class

Miss Goodier – Year 1

Hi, my name is Miss Goodier. I graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2019 after being a teaching assistant for 5 years. This is my second year teaching at Brierley and I’m very excited about teaching in year 1. My favourite subjects are, maths, science, art and DT and I am very passionate about STEM learning. I am passionate about inspiring the next generation of architects, artists, engineers and scientists. When I’m not in school, I enjoy long walks with my dog, spending time with my family and driving my vintage tractors.

Miss Pringle

Hi, my name is Miss Pringle and I’m a teaching assistant in Year 1. I’ve worked at Brierley for 3 years now (time flies!) and I completed my teacher training in Birmingham, graduating in 2015. I love working with children and seeing how they grow and progress throughout their time at school. It’s very rewarding knowing you’ve helped them through their journey and having a young child myself, it’s amazing to see how fast they learn!

I love music, singing and dancing and you’ll often see me joining in with the children (much to their amusement). In my spare time, I enjoy walking up the odd mountain and socialising with friends and family.

Mrs Causton

Hi, my name is Mrs Causton, and I am a teaching assistant here at Brierley Primary School. I have worked at Brierley Primary school since 2015 and have enjoyed every minute of it so far. I have three children who have all been apart of the Brierley family so you could say it runs in our blood. During my time here, I have worked across many year groups, it has been lovely to see all the children grow and to watch their individual personalities shine. In my spare time, I love to read and spend time with my family making memories. I am very excited about being back in year 1!

Phase 2 (Year 2/3) – The Mini Grey Classes

Mrs Cunningham – Assistant Headteacher and Maths Lead

Hi, I’m Mrs Cunningham and I have been part of the Brierley family for over ten years now. I’m really excited to be spending another year in 2/3 and sharing the class with Miss Byford again. My favourite subjects are maths and English. I live in Wales with my husband and my two cats – Dennis and Tony. When I am not teaching, I spend quality time with my family and friends 🙂

Miss Byford

My name is Miss Byford and I am extremely excited to join the Phase 2 team this year! I have a degree in Early Childhood Studies and have recently completed a PGCE in Primary Education with QTS.
I enjoy teaching all subjects, but my favourites have to be History and Guided Reading. I have a passion for reading and discovering new and thrilling novels. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with friends and family and cooking new dishes (sometimes unsuccessfully).

Mrs Proudman

Hello, I am Mrs Proudman. I am a teaching assistant and staff governor here at Brierley. I have worked here for 12 years and I feel it is part of my family. I have worked in all key stages throughout the school and enjoy helping the children and seeing them achieve their full potential. I am passionate in my belief that all Brierley children deserve the very best chance in their education and I am proud to be a part of their learning adventures. When I am not working, I like to spend time with my two daughters and partner; we enjoy long dog walks with our extremely crazy dog, Denby and watching our gorgeous and very playful cat, Willow.

Phase 3 (Year 4/5) – The Neil Gaiman Classes

Mr Draper

My name is Mr Draper. I started at Brierley last year and have thoroughly enjoyed teaching here so far. I have been teaching for a number of years now and my experiences have led me to teach as far as Devon. This year, I will be teaching alongside Mr Lomas in Year 4/5 and I’m really looking forward to it – there may be a few cricket related chats going on in class! I enjoy teaching all subjects, but my favourite areas are maths and history. Outside of school, I really enjoy staying active by playing sports, running and going on walks with my family (I have two young children who love to race ahead, so keeping up can be a challenge!).

Mrs Potts

Hello, my name is Mrs Potts and I am a teaching assistant here at Brierley. This year will be my 12th year here and I am proud to be part of the Brierley family. Over the years, I have worked across all the key stages supporting the children: I provide class cover and really enjoy English and reading in particular. I have a BA (Hons) degree in education and I am currently in the middle of my Master’s degree in psychology. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching crime documentaries, walking and spending time with my family.

Mr Brazier

My name is Mr Brazier and this will be my sixth year of teaching at Brierley. I have had the pleasure of working with children in Key Stage One for the past two years and I am excited to be returning to teaching in Key Stage Two. Having taught in primary and secondary education settings in both Europe and Asia, I am passionate about international education and ensuring that pupils have a strong understanding of the history, geography, culture and languages of other places. Outside of school, I take French lessons and enjoy reading. I am keen to pass on my love of literature with Year 4/5, and share a range of new and intriguing texts with them.

Mr Coombs

My name is Mr Coombs, I was born and bred in Nantwich, and moved to Crewe in the nineties. Over the years, I have had various jobs including postman, cheese maker and gravy maker to name a few.

In 2005 my Brierley adventure started with me attending the local college to train as a TA. During my time here, I have worked with every year group and I am looking forward to the year ahead in years four and five. I enjoy all subjects however I love maths and computing! I have three children, two who have flown the nest and Jake who is starting year 5 and two grandsons, Theo (9months) and Oliver who attends Brierley.

In my spare time, my wife and I have started to enjoy growing our own fruit and veg. Although I do keep killing our tomato plants, we have had better success with lettuce, which our Giant African snail (Baz) loves!

Phase 4 (Year 6) – Pullman Class

Miss O’Leary

My name is Miss O’Leary. I started my teaching journey here at Brierley and I am very excited to be in Year 6 this year. I enjoy teaching all subjects but one of my favourites is modern foreign languages – I really enjoyed learning French at school and university and want to pass that enthusiasm on to my pupils. I also love reading and sharing new books with my class. Another passion of mine is science and I love investigating scientific ideas. Outside of school, I love exploring new places and spending time with friends and family (and my dogs!).

Mrs Faddes – Assistant Headteacher and English Lead

My name is Mrs Faddes. I am the English Lead here at Brierley and I am most passionate about reading. Reading is my favourite subject to teach and I love nothing more than finding a great book to share in lessons. Those moments where we are reading in class and we just can’t put the book down are the best – this is how I want all of our children to feel about books.

Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family (including my husband and two children) and friends. I love days out to places like the zoo, the beach or even just a nice long walk with my dog.

Mrs Wolstencroft

Hello! I am Mrs Wolstencroft, but you can call me Mrs W for short. I have worked at Brierley for a few years now but I used to be a regular visitor with the Brierley dog, Albie. I am part of the Year 6 team and I love doing all things creative or exciting. Don’t be surprised to see something being built within the classroom – I even made a trench once! I love learning and I hope to share that with all the children.

When I am not at Brierley, you can find me at a dance or circus class (I’ve been known to show one or two of my tricks), travelling or hiking in the countryside with the Brierley dog.

Mr Fletcher

Hi, my name is Mr Fletcher; I studied for my maths degree at Keele University and after briefly teaching at a secondary school, I joined the Brierley family in 2013. Throughout my 8 years here I have worked predominately as a maths specialist and have supported maths across years 3 to 6 helping all children to reach their full potential. In my spare time, I have recently started to learn to play the guitar and enjoy lots of family time with my wife, son, and our crazy spaniel, Charlie.

School Staff

Mr Foulkes – PE Subject Leader

My name is Mr Foulkes and I teach PE and Forest Schools across all year groups. I came to Brierley in September 2013 with the aim to make our school the best we can be at sport and to give pupils the chance to enjoy a wide range of sports. I enjoy taking pupils out of school to represent Brierley in different sports competitions and seeing them enjoy lots of different sports. I enjoy teaching geography and maths too! I have a degree in Sports Science from the University of Salford and trained to be a teacher at MMU Crewe. I am a huge Manchester United fan and go to Old Trafford as much as I can. I enjoy watching any sports on TV and I play football, golf and tennis in my spare time. My favourite band is Oasis and my favourite food is a spicy curry. I have a little boy and a little girl and I am training them to become future sport stars!

Mid-day Team:

The mid-day team are a happy, active crew – football, rounders, skipping and team games to name just a few of the activities you may see them participating in over lunchtime. All have, or have had members of their family at Brierley.
